Pilar has experience in energy, project finance, antitrust and banking. She regularly advises both sponsors and lenders in all aspects of projects, structured and corporate finance across the energy, infrastructure and other sectors.
Pilar has also participated in several public bidding processes for public concessions and contracts. She is one of the most active participants of the Firm´s energy practice. Because of the active role that Ms. Mata played in the financing of several of the most important renewable energy projects that were awarded PPAs in the Long-Term Auctions organized by CENACE, Pilar was nominated as "Mexican Renewable Person of the Year 2018" by MIREC.
Likewise, Pilar has been involved in several antitrust filings made before the Mexican Antitrust Commission and in many legal proceedings regarding monopolistic practices and prohibited concentrations and because of that Pilar has been recognized as a "Leading Women" in antitrust by Global Competition Review.

On March 24, 2020, the Energy Regulatory Commission (“CRE”) published the resolution number A/010/2020 (the “CRE Resolution”) in the Federal Official Gazette. By means of the CRE Resolution, CRE ordered the suspension of the terms and deadlines of the acts and procedures carried out before CRE, as of the date of the publication of the CRE Resolution and until April 17, 2020, as a measure to prevent and combat the spread of the Coronavirus Covid-19.

In light of the current COVID-19 international crisis, and for the purpose of reducing the risk of spreading the virus, both COFECE and IFT have decided that, from March 23 to April 17, 2020, the running all time periods in proceedings being processed by these authorities will be suspended. However, for the purpose of containing the economic impact of these measures on the country’s economy and the sectors they regulate, both bodies have excluded the following proceedings from the suspension and these may be processed electronically.
